Welcome to my e-Portfolio!
My Story.
Greetings.
My name is Atlanta Geleta. I was born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia- the horn of Africa, land of 13-months of sunshine, and the birthplace of coffee. I moved to Canada at the age of 15 to pursue my secondary and post-secondary education. I am passionate about sustainable transportation, increasing representation and inclusion of marginalized communities in STEM, and community involvement.
Engineering Experience.
My love and passion towards giving back to my community and STEM led me to pursue a career in Engineering. Engineering has opened up various opportunities for me to learn how I can bring technological solutions (clean energy) to solve complex problems within our community. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I was able to demonstrate my skills through co-op work terms, extracurricular activities, and class projects.
Community Involvement.
At an early age my parents have instilled in me the value of helping others and working together to better our community. I joined my school’s (Nazareth School) Girl’s Scout at the age of 9 and later became an active member of our Charity Club.
After moving to Canada, I continued my love for helping the community through my high school’s Key Club International section. During my spare times, I occasionally volunteered at our local food bank, Winnipeg Harvest and Salvation Army.
In post secondary, I continued serving the community within engineering and beyond through my active involvement in student-led organizations.
